this is not good, not good at all

I have been sick for one week.

From sore throat to flu and sore throat to cough and sore throat and now left with cough.

The kind that irritates your throat and makes u cough your lungs out.

I coughed the worst cough last night, halfway thru my sleep. I thought I was going to throw up anytime.

This morning, i woke up to find one of my diamond earrings missing. It shouldn't be missing since I always kept it in the jewellery box and I had been extra careful with it.

It's less than two months' old!! it's situations like these that i want to shoot my brains out.

not exactly a very good sunday to start with, and definitely didn't end very well either.

as much as i want to try to be understanding and objective, i find it hard to understand why mr goh has to work 24/7, saturdays and sundays---well, almost. It's 11pm on a sunday night and he's still at work. He has been at work since 10am. how can like that? why no staff welfare one..... =_=

I already feel like the wife who is waiting for the husband to come home.

again, i've been thinking in circles these few days.

and i came to have this wish to visit the 7 wonders of the world with mr goh during our lifetime.

but not sure what the 7 wonders of the world exactly is... i went to google for it.

my first MC in 6 months

and finally... I fell sick and had to leave work after lunch yesterday.

Got home, popped a pill and concussed.

still not feeling too well today, so decided to rest home and slack. Been working too hard for the first half of the year. This is my first medical leave in 2006, and at quite a good timing too since my boss and family is away in Krabi for two weeks. I remember the first time I was sneezing like mad in the office, and left for home after lunch, my boss emailed me and told me I could have just took some panadol cold to relieve the cold. but I don't blame him since he still comes to work even though he has a cold, sneezes all the time and happily spread the germs around the office. Then again, he's the boss. :)more staff welfare pls.

feels good to be home on a weekday. more public holidays pls.

Taka Food Festival 2006

Taka food fest is ongoing until...i dunno when... maybe end of the month? as usual, it's crowded... more of people who want to see see look look than really buy.

Tried ....
1) the quiche ($2.50 per piece)---not very good.
2) Bo Bo Sho- $3 very nice! apparently a hakka-teochew dish- secret recipe from zheng zhan lun's granma.
3) Matcha (Green tea) ice cream -$5- not fantastic

other usual stuff include nonya, jap, korean, western, local singapore food....

Particular mention to the fruits from japan. Looks yummilicious, but damn ex. Small basket only...but I think i'll drop by to get the cherry apples ($9.90) tmr.

What will people do without food..... A food quote from Socrates:

After 23 years....

I've finally gotten my PINK IC!

Yes...for those who never knew I was non-Singaporean, I'm not surprised... cos there's really nothing Malaysian about me (maybe there is, but I refuse to acknowledge any!). Hee Hee! To cut the story short, my mum gave birth to me and my bro in Msia, then brought us to Singapore when we were still very small. So we've been on this sunny island for as long as we can remember, we were brought up and educated here. No allegiance to our country of birth whatsoever, I mean, how do we feel anything when we hardly know its history and the people? We know Singapore, we learnt about her history since young, our family and friends are here, our roots are here. So, there is every reason for us to feel like we belong here and that's why we wanted so much to get our citizenship approved (Progress Package and angbaos became another impt reason in the past few years...)

It took 10 years for us to achieve our PR status, and another 10 to get the citizenship status. What I saw today at the ceremony makes me wonder why it took us so long... when it seemed so easy for the other new citizens to have their application approved. and some of these new citizens, I dare say, don't seem to value or regard this citizenship highly too.

It's supposed to be a no-nonsense and solemn ceremony, pledging our loyalty to s'pore. We got the notice to come dressed in smart casual (ladies) and long sleeves and tie (men). Yet, some people come dressed like they don't respect the ceremony and the organisers at all. I feel quite sad that these people are my fellow new citizens, and quite mad that the application process seems so much easier now, so much so that anyone can just apply. I've got photos as evidence...this lady, fwah, i dunno where she's dressed to go man...

and there are others who wore super mini-skirts and have their shirts tucked out, or super untidy...

I mean.... HEY! These people are our new citizens?!?!?!

I think their citizenships should be revoked.

I'm feeling so exasperated cos I know how difficult it is for my mum to apply for citizenships for me and bro since young, the kind of trouble she has to go thru, the amount of money she paid..the amount of sweat...and most importantly, the genuine interest in becoming a s'pore citizen, believing that we should receive the best.

Other than that, I'm a happy S'POREAN girl today!!

Mr goh likes to call me button nose---meaning, round, fat and flabby, like a button mushroom. He wished he could have a bite at it. Yes, I know my nose is not exactly the sharpest and pointiest around... but... at least i still have a nose bridge....and....

The 3 Fs

I've officially become the 3Fs -- Fairweather Female Fan of World Cup.

Just finished watching the match between England and Portugal. (Although most of the time I was busy looking at the wedding pictures the photographer took that night.)

But I did pay attention towards the end of the match...when the guys had to call for extra time, and fought another gruelling 30 min. And then the penalty shoot out-- which i think is not really fair, since it's more of luck, courage (ability to handle stress) and also playing on the other guy's mistake. One wrong move and you'll send the country weeping. The immense amount of stress weighing on the penalty shooter's foot and the goalkeeper's fingers. HEAVY SHIT. I'd have peed in my pants.

Anyway, dinner earlier was at Sakae at citylink, which I must say serves better sashimi and sushi than the rest of the Sakae outlets. But the sukiyaki beef is still not as good as Sun with Moon's. The wasabe was SHIOK!!

Why the world needs Superman

Lois wrote an article about why the world doesn’t need Superman and won the Pulitzer Prize.

Now, I'm attempting to write the article "Why the world needs Superman" and maybe I'll win the Pulitzer too.... BIG LAUGHS.

Anyway, I like the show. Was a tad slow in the beginning but definitely picked up pace later, although my brother (sitting next to me) keep complaining about the superman's fringe. Superman's son is very cute too!

I haven't attended weddings since my sister's, which is like 13/14 yrs ago. The most recent one would be mr goh's friend-edmund's, but his is more like a wedding tea party/solemnisation at Sentosa.

Anyway, their Panpac wedding banquet was a simple affair.


The parents were actually the busy ones who were trying to entertain the guests during the cocktail reception. Mr goh's family alone - "the goh clan"- occupied at least half the tables. 14 tables!! That's like at least 140 guests can!! and jon's side were made of up his relatives and both his and yiping's friends. And funny cos on jon's name list were people without names, only identified by the area they lived in. E.g Ang mo kio x4. Bedok x6 etc and he said he doesn't know most of the guests/his relatives very well. which i find quite weird, and thought it's more like the parents' wedding than theirs. I'd love to invite all my close relatives and friends only, cos i know they'll truly be the ones who will be able to share my joy 100% and whom i really want to share my joy with. Then again, thinking back of the 14 tables, maybe not then... it's more of a chinese tradition to hold a wedding banquet and invite ALL relatives and friends. To share the joy? To make an announcement? I don't know...

I'd want wedding tea party too. think that'd be fun. with dancing involved. lighten the mood, get everybody on their feet and laugh and be happy.

And it's right when people say the bride will look her best that day. It's not just appearance wise, but more like the inner glow and happiness emanating from within. Something which can't stop you from smiling, it's just that wonderful feeling which makes you look wonderful tonight. *grins*

finally had the chance to wear the sweetees dress!


will find a chance to wear it when hanging out with you girls too. ;)

while mr goh looks stiff with his coat on. Hur hur. (he says that's cos his jacket pockets got a lot of ang baos... so very heavy!!)


after banquet, headed to Ritz Carlton's chihuly lounge for some drinks. the place has really changed since the last time i've been there. the band has changed, people working there have changed, the look of the menu has changed.. but the drinks haven't change!! which is a good thing cos i love their cocktails!

this is Coco Jambo. Irish cream, kahlua and cocoa. =)Mr goh had ice passionfruit tea and he asked me why the ice is brown... the ice is made of tea, so that when it melts, it doesn't dilute the flavour of the tea! so thoughtful right? the same goes for their ice coffee.






and then there's the band.... 3 guys, 100% singaporean. one guy (mervin, the one looking into the camera, pianist) came over and chatted with us. and then later.. this happened.

The END of CommunicAsia

the end of my first nightmare-CommunicAsia.

I can't believe my week passed so fast though. Walking around the different booths, trying to speak to exhibitors all over the world. Eva joined us today, so me and mae were more relaxed (we were kinda losing 'steam' to approach people and speak to them). We decided to take some time off and look AT the booths and the stuff they have exhibited. :)

First stop, this Korean neo-print machine. Apparently, the owner wants to find distributors here in Singapore. I tried to explain that there are already a lot of neo-print machines from Japan, Taiwan here already, so would he find the market here 1) small, 2) saturated already? took quite a while for him to understand what i was trying to say.... which he finally replied saying the technology used in the korean machines are different from the neo-print machines in the market now. How true that is... I have no idea... the last time i took a neo-print, I was 19.

Anyway, there appears to be more functions here. Usual features include background (famous places, with popular artistes, colourful frames etc), text functions, cutesy stuff which teenagers will definitely like, changing the colour (black/white, sepia, adjust the lighting).

What's new to me was how we could change the backdrop even after we've taken the picture (usually, what u choose at the beginning is what you get); resize ourselves and move ourselves around the background. During printing, there are games available which will keep u occupied while your pictures are developing. the quality of the pictures are really not bad!!

So thin, it feels like a biscuit/cracker.

i love this series of sliding phones.
it's a touch-dial phone (similar to the LG chocolate phone later), meaning there's no buttons to press to dial. you touch the screen (see the phone icons) and it'll dial. the only buttons are the number pad. and as u enter the numbers, a 'feather-pen' thingy will appear and write the numbers out!! very pretty!! definitely a ladies phone.

I also walked by the Mricrosoft booth and saw this samsung blackberry-like pda.

and 3 shelves of dopod and pdas.

and there's motorola....which didn't allow me to take pics unless i am a reporter. =_= but i still took 2 pictures. hee.

You've gotta insert it into ur ear in order to feel the vibrations to ur ear drum, which will then be converted to sound waves!!
I'm really fascinated by it, but Mr Goh thinks that at the end of the day, your finger will be really dirty OR u'll get ear infection from sticking ur finger into ur ear too often AND the purpose of bluetooth is really to make it HANDSFREE-can't multitask with ur index finger in ur ear, right? --which kinda makes sense.
Still, i'm fascinated by it--the science of it, the wonders of technology.

And here's a handphone that's waterproof. No more corroded mobile phones and sim cards!!
