finally saw the much awaited Lust Caution last Friday-
which is also my first R(A) movie. Er, the first R(A) movie I watched, I mean.
It was hell of an emotional ride.
Tang Wei is brilliant as 王佳芝 - whose life is shaped by circumstances. 仿佛像片落叶随风飘， 几经风浪。。。却始终找不到歇脚的地方。 原本是敌人的易先生， 却变成了她最能投靠的岸，最能抒发情感的对象。 I'm not even surprised when she did what she did to Tony at the last minute (don't want to be a spoiler - watch the show to find out). Fion joked that whoever would do what she did with such a precious thing in hand. Is such the weakness of 女人?
Tony is getting old but still fantastic as 易先生. As eva puts it, "老了老了，眼睛都不放电了，不过浑身都是戏，变成了戏骨. 他需要发泄，他需要交流，可言语上他不能交流，因为他不能信任，直到他遇见王佳芝。王佳芝从不问他的事情，不干涉他的事情，但是他们知道并理解对方内心的悲凉和孤独."
Lee Hom and the group of students were the weakest characters in the show. Lee Hom, first - to love someone and not stop her from hurting herself is despicable. yea, he has a cause to fight for, but that 'cause' is not as alive and kicking as the one in front of him. And the group of students? Crying at the end is just pathetic - they didn't even lose themselves in the struggle against the enemy.
Anyway, good show. Lovely shanghai scenes with a screen shot of the hotel I stayed at, and the bridge i wake up to seeing every morning.
We were also discussing if the bed scenes were for real when Steph pointed in an interview where Tony said, 'If it's real, then Lee Ang wouldn't need to find me for the role.' A real pro indeed. =)

p.s. I'm sick of GUYS asking me to buy the uncensored version dvd in hong kong for them - STOP DOING THAT. This film is not the hardcore porn you want and I'm not your dvd auntie. bleh.
