Halloween @ Zouk

Happy Spooky Halloween!

Decided it was time to have fun during Halloween. It's not really much celebrated here, but my boss had been talking about how excited his boys are whenever it comes to Halloween.. cos they can dress up in the wildest costumes, using their very creativity! and boss' wife is American, so she's really into Halloween....

so, i got kinda excited too and decided to jio some friends to see see look look at zouk's halloween party!

and boy, these people really dress up to the occasion! felt so under dressed that night. Even the zouk staff had to dress up! ha ha, this guy is the locker guy.

Freaking booby SIA ah ma

Inside Zouk

spot the (shiny) construction workers!

Freddy Kruger!! I was machiam going thru 'ghost walk' all over again. Scary People everywhere!

and see the freaky snow white?

This ang moh woman brought her shower curtains and shower head along la! -faint- So tiring to walk around like that the whole night!

This Huang Di is very popular la! so CUTE!

I had the shock of my life when i saw these people!

These ghouls just 'Woooo! Whooo!' around to scare people.... and also touch them. Hurr hurr. Smart, cos no one will know who they are.

I think I killed a rabbit!

and became the rabbit myself....

and finally, when the music's better, the club also got very very crowded.
actually made friends with this girl, who is really nice....but didn't get her name or number! she's really cute.

Highlight of the night:

HARDO GAY!

he was very popular la! more so than the Huang Di!

Don't mess with Mr. Goh

Over the years, I have learnt not to mess with Mr. Goh although I must say he's possibly the most good-natured guy I've ever met. I have seen him blow his top less than 5 times (most often on the soccer field but I only watched him play soccer for like, 2 times in his entire soccer history).

and yes, he has been very tolerant of all my nonsense too. putting up with my 'xiao jie pi qi'.

but tonight, he reallly got MADDDDD.

It all happened like this...

After watching death note, we dropped by the citibank booth cos Mr goh wanted to sign up for some cards and this ah beng looking person served us, happily asked for all the details, told mr goh to send in his cpf form la, what not la.... chatted me up with the 'halloween@zouk' topic...

and we happily went for dinner.

when mr goh still looks like a good nice puppy.....

UNTIL HE FOUND THAT HIS IC IS NOT WITH HIM.

fwah. HOT LIAO.

i told him the citibank guy didn't return his IC to him. so we called up that fella, who insisted that there's no way the IC could still be at the booth, cos if it was, his colleagues would have seen it.

Fwah. even more HOT.

the thought of having to go through the procedures (going to make police report, make time to go to immigration centre to have a new IC done, take new IC photos...etc etc) and the thought of another 100 bucks or so flying away... After spending money to fix the 'lobang' on the car... Fwah... HOT to the max.

until i sat like a little rabbit next to him. watching him speed off on the highway, not saying anything, 'machiam' the silent killer. And my toes curled. my mouth zipped. my fists clenched. praying that on the way back to the citibank booth, he wouldn't meet with another accident again.

Heng the booth still there when we reached ah!

and INDEED, the IC was still on the photocopier when the fella took it to zap. I clearly rememebered he didn't return it to us. Heng the workers were still clearing the booth.

I could hear the 'thud' sound on mr goh's heart as he finally put down a big stone from his heart (Xiong1 kou3 fang4 xia4 yi1 li4 da4 shi2).

(kids, don't do this at home, or anywhere.....)

to the citibank fella.

my bf is a MONSTER.
but he was nice enough to buy some cakes for the workers who helped find his IC. Niceeee...

A sweet October @ Fullerton

So I'm invited! =)

Time really flies, still remember one year ago when me and maegan were having lunch at coffeeclub the day after mike proposed to her while they were cable-car dining (though me and chingwei nvr understood how romantic or nice the food can be -- the cable cars seriously need to be refurbished).

so, it's been a year of preparing for the wedding, sharing ideas about every aspect of the BIG day. Learnt how to choose good diamonds (the 4Cs: Cut, Clarity, Colour, Carat; see http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?type=content&id=channel2640010&catid=cat21083&navLevel=">) Learnt which magazines showcase the really nice gowns, headbands, wedding accessories, etc, etc. Saw really nice wedding photography. And in the midst of maegan's wedding preparation, Eva got married back in china. There is still a huge cultural gap between mainland chinese (who have turned PR) and locals.

In any case, the solemnization and the wedding went off well, a sweet and simple affair. Eva got emotional during the solemnization that she cried (good thing maegan reminded her to bring tissue). The flower girl is really cute! her name is chloe, one of my favourite girly name. =) Dinner was niceeee.... didn't know eating little bit by little bit can be so filling. I think my appetite has really 'gone down'.

Peter and CJ also shared stories of how their wedding and honeymoon was like, how they are always irritated by singaporeans who talk while people were onstage giving their speech and who leave even before the dessert was served. Typical singaporeans, they say. THEN, cj said they once attended a wedding where they took 12 wine glasses home (the glases had the couple's names printed on them and were supposed to be the thank-you gifts but other guests did not realise that). And cj took 3 of the thank-you gifts home tonight, 1 for dash, 1 for chase and 1 for their maid. following which, i also took 3 home, 1 for my bro (a Vespa) and 2 for myself. Muahahahaa... typical singaporean, you say??

after knowing that mr goh is coming to pick me up, they stayed a while longer to finally meet with the man himself. peter said mr goh looks scruffy (cos he was wearing a Levis t-shirt with berms and Y-slippers). "Either one of you is overdressed, and I'm not sure who." Hurrr. and then, cj commented that mr goh looks like he's 13, but added that that's ok....cos i look 12. =_= and finally concluded that we look compatible. Heeee. i'm taking that in a positive light.

here's a mini slideshow of the ringdings tonight. pictures taken in the ballroom are rather dark cos I didn't want the guests to see my flash flashing at all the food... paisay ah! And, inspired by maegan's wedding pictures, i made mr goh practise some wedding poses with me. we probably tried more than 30 times to get one nice shot (though not as nice as i thought). but yeah, practice should make perfect hor?

I name this slideshow.... Love is in the air!

One wrong turn....

is a hefty price to pay.

Yes, mr Goh 'Lang-Gah' again.

since i've known him, he's lang-gah three times. That means, every 1.5 years, he will lang-gah once.

The first time, he lang-gah with taxi driver, on the day of our first dinner date. (of course, taxi driver did not admit it's his fault)
The second, he lang-gah with the railings along the expressway, cos he fell asleep. (purely mr goh's fault)
and now, he made a turn while his mind was thinking about... work, and it took him a loud screeching sound to jerk him out of his state of (work) mind. (though i heard from the radio that the thing that most men think about while driving is not exactly work.... but... )

so now, he has to burn his pocket again. good thing it's not $3850 which Honda quoted him. He'll have to feed on grass if that happens.

The F***ING Departed

SEX, DRUGS, VIOLENCE, BLOOD, PROFANITIES.

Was really disappointed with this remake of the Asian 'Wu Jian Dao' (Infernal Affairs). The show didn't wow me. I find it badly made instead, of a bad taste. I bet the characters shouted profanities more than 100 times in the show. Every now and then, the characters will say F*** or F***ing. Like nobody's business. (which i don't really see the need for)

Huang Qiusheng's character was accompanied by this other police officer, who was really irritating me throughout the show. exudes negative vibes. and who eventually... killed andy lau's character (played by matt damon) in the most ridiculous looking wear.

Sha Qiang's character was also made into 2 different characters. You don't really see the 'brotherhood' between the gang members like you see between Tony Leung (played by Leonardo) and Sha Qiang. Pity.

Eric Tsang's character was played by jack nicholson. The latter is supposed to be 70 years old in the show. the movie scene where he passed the envelope to matt damon showed them watching porn, with jack flashing his dildo to scare matt damon. I went huh? what the hell. Was that necessary?? Poor taste. very poor taste. Jack is just portrayed as a very Se4 Beibei (Dirty old man) the way I see it.

the scene where he was killed by Matt was also very badly set. not cool, not cool at all.

and Matt and Leonardo fell in love with the same woman (the female lead is not exactly very pretty looking)! Where's my ELva?!

and no MORSE code! done thru sms! and it's not very clear how Leonardo communicated with Matt during the last lap. weak.

and what's with the Mainland chinese speaking Cantonese?

sigh, so many other things that I didn't appreciate martin scorsese do. The westerners may really enjoy these kinda movie, full of blood, gore (scene of a chopped hand, bullet blowing brains off), drugs, vulgarities and sexual innuendos (which i felt is really not necessary).

for me, i prefer the slicker Infernal Affairs, with a more charismatic cast.
thumbs up to Asian film makers.

cool ad

W-H-Y why

is mars really that different from venus?

I can't understand why he has to send his colleague home at FREAKING 4am, when his colleague can take a cab home and can claim taxi fare for it.

By sending his colleague home, it would mean he will reach home at 5am. and sleep at 6 am.

why is it so ridiculous?!?!!!!

so what if the colleague is a non-local. he buay paisay one ah!!! not even close close close close friend lor. even i will feel paisay if my friend has to send me home at such unearthly hour.

He can say no to me so many times cos of work. and he cannot say no to his colleague, for the good of himself?

it doesn't pay to be mr. nice guy all the time.

i am feeling: frustrated, exasperated. I need to breathe.

Bye bye panda eyes, Hello Emily the strange

Yes, Hello to the new look.

Every time i go to the hairdresser, they will make me cut my fringe. Straight bangs. Even though I told them it'll make my face look rounder. They think black=straight=straight bangs= emily the strange. The first time I had straight bangs was when I was a sec 4 girl. Fringe was damn thick la, and up til today, the sweeties still comment about my china doll hair.

so....I said bye bye to my looooooooong tresses (which I've had for 2-3 years).

such an ugly pout. =_=

and... I've got a set of MTM eye care stuff (whitening essence, eye cream and collagen eye masks), at quite a *ahem* price. Mr Goh flipped when I told him that and we even had a teeny tiny tiff over the phone. Die la... not even married, can quarrel over such stuff le. Mae said I should just tell him a fraction of the sum, or not even tell him at all , since men will hardly notice such stuff anyway. well, lesson learnt from a newly-wed. =)

Anyway, dunno if it's a blessing to be working in town or not. so many road shows, sales...it's just quite tempting to get sth new during lunch hour. I hope this investment is worthwhile man.

I want to say bye bye to my panda eyes!
(mae also got the eye masks.... and obviously, the husband is not ever going to find out....)

About Mr. E. Lim....

He's the guy who....

1) graduated from NJC and had the same history tutor as me (but I nvr knew of his existence as my arts class senior....)

8) had a knee injury while playing soccer and walks with his legs 'open open' now

9) had his flight to shanghai delayed for 4 hours, and then still cannot fly off, had to be put into holiday inn with nothing to do, no girls to pao and can only fly off the next day

Which part of KEEP LEFT do you not understand??

I've been wanting to post this for a very long time.

WHAT'S UP WITH OUR PEOPLE?

With a literacy rate of 94.2%, why can't people read the 'keep left' instructions? Even if they can't read the instructions, there are illustrations!

I am totally put off today. It's not even rush hour. I was going to get off the train and when the door opened, this woman and this ah pek just walked right in, and pushed me all the way back into the train again. Like they never even see me standing there.

Hello?? The train is like 10% filled. Lotsa seats for them. They obviously can tell when the train slowed down.

AND the train is not going to SPEED OFF after i drop off.

so WHY? I really don't understand.

We're supposed to be the educated people. lotsa courtesy campaigns going on all round the year. Give up seats to the elderly and pregnant. Stay clear of the closing door. *Didididididiiii...* Move towards the inside of the train. Give way to passengers who are leaving the train. Keep left on the escalator.

In FOUR freaking different languages.

I was scolded when i stood on the left on the escalator in Taiwan (they're supposed to keep right-- they follow the US system). They obviously could tell i'm foreign because EVERYBODY stood on the RIGHT, so that people who are in a hurry could walk up on the left side. The taiwanese queue up to get into the train, AFTER the passengers get out first.
See picture as evidence.

So what is wrong with our people?

to think we actually coin ourselves as a gracious society.

oh,

i forgot,

we're a kiasu bunch too.

The reason

I'm not a perfect person
There's many things I wish I didn't do
But I continue learning
I never meant to do those things to you
And so I have to say before I go
That I just want you to know

I've found a reason for me
To change who I used to be
A reason to start over new
and the reason is you

I've found a reason to show
A side of me you didn't know
A reason for all that I do
And the reason is you

It's difficult to lose sight of the goal sometimes.... thanks for reminding me all the reasons again.

venomous sting

I was stung on thursday night. I could hear the flapping of the mosquito's wings around my ear but i was too lazy to get up to kill it. I hid myself under the blanket, hoping it'll go away and leave me alone.

Come friday morning, I found my left arm swollen, with red bumps, hard and itchy.

A total of 5 stings on my left arm and 1 sting on my right index finger (at the joint) and 1 last one on my right knee. All SWOLLEN and RED.

my swollen finger, which kept trembling.

my BIG FAT SWOLLEN arm. Spot the bumps.

VERY ITCHY AH!!!!!!!!!!!

When i showed my mum, she told me she smacked a GREEN insect, twice the size of a mosquito, looks kinda like mosquito but not.

with lotsa BLOOD.

RARRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!

just stable... or is it..

leen and meesh asked me how would i describe my r/s with mr goh.

i thought, and said. Stable.

Steady. Non-turbulent. Going on fine.

I really cannot think of anything else.

I'd like to have answered, exciting, fantastic, still feels like the first time.

but i can only wish...and for the first time in so many months, i really missed him.

It's not so much of his physical presence, since I've gotten used to him not being around as often as when we were in school, and it wouldnt be fair to compare with those times in school vs at work now.

something.. is.. just... missing...

we shared dreams and laughter before,
we share good night, "(he) i'm home (at some unearthly hour) and (me) i'm going to bed" sms-es now.
we made plans for the future,
but the future seems so far, too long ahead. and the need to focus on work and career could well be taking a toll on our r/s. I completely understand that we need dough to survive = No dough, no love. But i'm kinda hanging on by the thread now.

and he knows, cos i told him. It's really heartening to see him making an effort. no matter how small. but, there are always buts. i want to see/feel something more.

sigh

I need a pit-stop, to refuel my engine. to get the adrenaline pumping again.
I don't want to tire him on this r/s but i think i'm tiring myself. I know i don't want to give up, i won't give up. "I need to believe, that something extraordinary is possible."- Quote from 'A Beautiful Mind' which we watched at leen's place today.

and alice said to john's friend "when I look at John, I see the man I love and though he's no longer the same man now, I'm still the woman who is very much in love with him." or something like that.

and John Nash said this at the end of the show,
"I've made the most important discovery of my life. It's only in the mysterious equation of love that any logical reasons can be found. I'm only here tonight because of you. You're the only reason I am... you're all the reasons I am.

Perhaps it is good to have a beautiful mind, but an even greater gift is to discover a beautiful heart."

pls, let me find those reasons and more, again.
