Tick tock tick tock tick tock.....

It's as if there's a time bomb inside my body. clicking, clicking away.
and it started ticking when Mr goh asked me the same question again
(No, it's not THE question), but rather, he asked if I'd like to do postgraduate some time in the near future. together. overseas. australia most probably.

i'd love to...but...

there's always but.

there are a thousand and one things on my mind which tells me this is not the right time...but but but....

I wish i have the ability and capability to keep my sight firmly on the destination, instead of worrying how I'm going to make it there.

if only life's that simple.

if only i can say i want to do that and pop! solutions appear! pop! money appears! pop! accomodation overseas settled! pop! everything else here is taken care of! pop! pop! pop!

I can sense mr goh is really keen to take another degree, especially if accenture doesn't continue their contract with him after 6 months. and his mother is also constantly asking him if he wants to go overseas .... i'm selfishly hoping that him going away won't happen.

I told him to work for another year at least. I told him that he hasn't experienced enough working lifestyle to fully know what course he wants to take. I told him he's not ready to go back to sch. I told him all that and more, hoping it'd diminish his thoughts. but i didn't tell him how i'd miss him when he's gone. yah, paranoid gf. not exactly all that supporting huh?

conflict.

life gets pretty complicated when you're not living it alone. i'd go ahead with what i want to do in the past, but what i want to do will affect others now. sigh. Can someone make life simpler?!?!

i also have my plans... I have plans to maybe go for my postgraduate after working 2 years, or maybe i won't and i'd join another firm. or maybe... just maybe...

Ironically, for someone like me who loves to plan, i don't really stick to them, especially when i cannot even imagine the outcome. There are so many possibilities! c'mon! it's like the adventure storybooks u read while u were young... To continue the adventure, choose Event A, or choose Event B and each will lead to a different outcome. I always play cheat and peeped at the outcome before choosing the event.

what is the outcome i want to see now?

the clock is ticking...

Lousy rhyme

another weekend passed, always so fast.
No time to catch up lost sleep,
lotsa shopping places to visit!
first up, went for a trim,
which left me with an ugly fringe.
next up, shopping shopping shopping
and got myself some bling-blings!
all cos the sales lady at goldheart is nice,
or i'd just say, "gotta think twice."
dropped by the singapore art museum,
to catch Fiction@Love
not allowed to take pictures,
but i took one nonetheless!

white fluffy horny beast
in a room full of red dots
to symbolise love or killing?
i couldn't settle on my thoughts.
my stomach started to make noise,
so we left before the mural light show
headed to our fav liang seah joint
whose business seemed to have been stolen by the new eateries
popping up along the street!
frog's legs

cereal prawn

and dou miao

and not forgetting my favourite fried you tiao!

and sunday dinner was XO crab beehoon
where there was a very long queue
the place was jam packed when we got there

so we had some rojak to share

and fried baby octopus,

before the main dish was served
(after a long wait of 45 min)

Tadaaaaa! Holland drive blk 40's speciality

but turned out not to be my cup of tea
true enough, the XO smell quite good
and the crab meat's sweet and juicy
but it wasn't as tasty as i thought it would,
if you're not too picky,
it's still decent food...
but soon, i'll want to have chilli crabs!
with deep fried buns to dab!

friday night @ clementi

Met Mr peh for dinner and he intro me to this peng hir place at clementi. It's kinda ironic that a lakeside boy knows more about clementi than a clementi girl.

In any case, we had claypot rice, you cai and BBQ stingray. No need to go chomp chomp for BBQ stingray anymore!! and the claypot rice is nice too! the rice doesn't stick to the claypot, which usually happens especially at food courts.

Mr Peh is also the one who told me about the special effects of apple vinegar. It supposedly helps u to lose weight and have a whole long list of other health benefits. I just wish mr peh will stop smoking soon...he says he's just a social smoker and will stop once his IA ends. well, if you're reading this entry, I wish you'll keep to that! Jun zi yi yan, four hourses cannot chase!

and yah, the GSS has OFFICIALLY started. 8 weeks of wild wild shopping! Me and mae spent some time during lunch shopping. Haha. saw a really nice polka dotted halter from MNG's catalogue, but when we asked the storeperson, the same item comes with blue polkadots instead of brown! which is not really that nice on a cream base halter. well, shan't buy when it's not on sale anyway.

M)phosis is having crazy sales though. 50-70%. I went in, grabbed a few pieces that's my size, Q up and paid. It helps when you already know your size and/or have tried the same piece before it went on sale, so there's no need to spend time queueing to try them on. ;) I read from FEMALE that when you SPEND during a sale, you're in fact SAVING!

so everybody, the mad rush has begun. put on your shopping shoes.

Oops, he did it again! & later, at coffee club...

Fwah. Rememeber when i told you guys that my china colleague sleeps at work, whenever my boss is not around? Oops, he did it again....and I caught it all on tape. It so happens that I'm meeting the sweeties for dinner later, so i brought my cam to work. And at about 5.15pm, my female colleague (mae) msn me and told me that dear mr AT is sleeping. fwah! I couldn't hide my excitement and withdrew the cam from my bag. The sweeties later commented that I am very free at work to do all these...but hey, i don't doze off BLATANTLY in an office where there are still other colleagues around! we're not invisible okay. and when i did the telephone trick again, he went back to sleep after picking up the call!! I should have called and said, hey, STOP SLEEPING AT WORK!!

ASIDE: think i need to explain a little about the nature of my job. Basically, everyone is managing his/her own project, and we've got our own deadline to meet. So, how we allocate our time to complete the project is entirely left in our hands.

considering that I've got two projects running concurrently, I'm quite busy at the moment. Okay, so i msn and surf the net at work, but I also know that by doing that, I'll have less time for my work. So i only do these things when deadline is not so tight or I've got a mental block. our Dear mr AT, on the other hand, has recently came back from china and should, by right, be busy working on the final report now. But no... he has time to doze off at work.

If my taking video of him dozing off at work is considered unprofessional, can someone explain his behaviour? and I think it makes me more mad that he's drawing more salary than me (just cos he's a phd?) when I've got more responsiblities at work.

makes me wonder if a higher degree really matters?

Anyways, dinner at coffee club was fun! it's a farewell-bon-voyage dinner for GGgoh, who will be going to kazakhstan for a mission trip. she says it'll take two days to reach the place (somewhere in russia) from singapore, cos there's no direct flight available. hope she stays safe. it sounds like a dangerous place.

towards the end of the dinner, it was q hilarious when everyone started asking dr. poon about all the health matters. one feels nauseous when she brushes her teeth in the morning, another has a mole which sometimes will disappear or change colour, and dr poon taught us how to 'faint' another person. heh heh. I laughed until my stomach ached.

GGgoh & Dr. Poon

GGgoh & Dr. Poon...in action!

me & yun

& dinner.
Saw this poem by Catherine lim posted on Today.

Ladies, if in his love songs to you
He keeps referring to the moon
It's because it rhymes so readily
With the lover's croon or swoon.

And if he swears eternal love
Never from you will he part
It has less to do with loyalty
Than with the rhyme for "heart".

Suppose there's an awful break-up
And he pens an opposite song
Be thankful he has much less choice
For his sense of grievance and wrong.

Just how many words can he find
To rhyme with 'disgust' or 'odium'
With 'disillusionment' or 'betrayal'
With 'vengeance' or 'opprobrium'?

I wrote a poem about you today

I wrote a poem for my friend today. Well, here's his sms to me:"If u write a poem for me stating tt im sad but will move on, and email me by 230pm then my love u will increase 10 fold." which is really scary, cos I don't want to increase 10 fold.

In any case, i just wrote. I didn't expect the words to come so easily... after all, the last poem i wrote was probably in sec 4. I have this collection of poems i wrote in my little white "fairy" book. maybe i should post them one of these days...

but yeah, friend says he will plagiarise my work but I'm gonna beat him to that. In case, he censored some parts I originally wrote. Here it is:

"If you'd write a poem about me
what would it be?

To tell me that I'm sad when I really should be happy
that my world seems crumbling down
but i've forgotten how strong and deep my pillars are (or pillar is)
that the end of something ugly
is just another beautiful beginning

Yes, that's what you'd write about me

You'd say you're already expecting it
and that warning bells were tugged
but I went ahead with my feelings
and crossed my fingers, toes, heart and tongue (note: not just to rhyme, but also insinuate some tongue action)

You didn't want to ask too much
But prayed the best for me
we both know I was sinking in (shit)
And getting myself all dirty
So to come clean of everything
Would be what's best for me
You'd hang around and pass me new clothing
So I can return to being me

Yes, that's how you'd stand by me

I never felt more sure than this
Pulling through, surviving
I wish I could say something vicious
about someone dear
but as she no longer is,
perhaps I shouldn't bother

(though I'd leave a warning for the boys in line
this one's not for keep,
she can't make up her mind!!)

Yes, I know what you'd say to me
More than this poem speaks"

Not too bad/evil yah?

There's really gonna be a new beginning. Time will heal all wounds, really. Hugs.

our relaxing weekend

Mr goh had to work on Sat, so i bummed at home and slept and slept (woke up late and had to finish housework before going out). Lost sleep always require more hours to recover, I noticed. Normal young adult would need about 6-8 hours of undisturbed sleep daily. And when you fall short of that, you'd probably need to sleep twice the number of hours lost before you won't feel sleepy/lethargic again.

Since we've both had less than optimal sleep hours last weekend, this weekend shall be relaxing. I didn't have to work so I woke up early to catch SuperBand in the morning. My votes are going to Mi Lu Bin!!! Their rendition of Jeff Zhang's Guo Huo is Fantabulous! but I'm also watching cos i get to watch Soul dance... reminds me of the days in ModernJazz. After that, i concussed.

So we met later and only had time for dinner. Mr Goh brought me to outback steakhouse, thinking I've not been there before.... but heh, he doesn't know I've been there and done that (i.e. checked out the rather cute waiter- who still happens to be working there).

A must-order from outback. BUSHMAN SCHROOMS. >puts other schrooms to shame. Don't even think about the schrooms burger of KFC.

Time to look at other stuff they have on the menu....

and peekaboo!

Hmm...nice dinner place.. must take nice pictures right! and again, playing with the digicam...

this is RETRO mode.

this is CANDLELIGHT mode. (which effectively made me look like i'm roasting in an oven, with a spastic smile)An overexposed shot.

and MONOCHROME.

and FOOD mode.

JUICY MUSHROOMS. yummy.

and then we dig in. I had ribs on the Barbie, a little hard for my liking. Goh had some Burger Max. and we took two and a half hours to finish everything. I cannot imagine having mains like these every single day of my life. Faint. Another table of angmohs ordered lotsa and lotsa burgers and they finished their meal faster than us! So we tried to sing Guo Huo- the Mi Lu Bin style and Tarcy Su's lemon tree and ya zi and what not, taking time to let our food settle in and digest. :))

Sunday was another relaxing day. just bumming around town. Spinelli's new Citrus Twist is really nice! go try it! Ice blend of pineapple, orange and vanilla, i think. and strawberry cheesecake. double yum.

Some shops have started having sales already, when the GSS officially starts next Friday! Pre-GSS sales, they call it. Cheaterbugs. I won't be surprised if there's gonna be Post-GSS sales. In any case, sale is always GOOD. but it is SO frustrating to see something which I bought less than a week ago put on sale! roar.

The start of GSS also marks my first year anniversary with my current firm. :))
Will try to hang in there for another year, at least. Provided if no one steps on my toes and break my nails.

Ouch.

rendezvous sentosa

The much awaited get-away is finally here and sadly....over.
mr goh can't take leave since his work schedule is like crazy to the max. (I still don't understand why they must work more than 15 hours each day...)
In any case, I'm happy that he made the effort to organise this... :))

so, we got ourselves the Imbiah surpriZe package ($55.50 per person), which is quite worth it really.. the imbiah lookout is the new happening place on sentosa. There are a lot more new rides and attractions and F&B places... and there's Ben & Jerry there too!! the sentosa person said we could finish all the rides and visit all the attractions in 5 hours, but the ticket is valid for two days.. so there's no rush to see everything. Plus, it was drizzling when we got to sentosa.. so we decided to catch the 4D magix show first! Very exciting!!

It was some pirates' show and by 4D, it is 3D plus one more D. haha. but it basically appeals to most of your senses: Sight, hearing, touch. The characters are very real!! almost like they're right in front of you and if you reach out your hand, you'd be able to touch them! and of course, there are the occasional shocks and bumps and splashing of water....it's really entertaining! A must-visit for all.

and then where else to go on a rainy day than to pig out at some makan place! there's Tastes of Singapore, which serves really expensive local flavours. chicken rice is freaking 8 bucks! and there's lobster laksa and satay and chicken wings. Not much variety of local flavours, but good enough.

and there's some kind of sentosa oxygenated water.

and we fiddled with the casio digicam a bit and found out the amazing stuff it can do!! (ok, maybe i very the suaku...)

and yes, i like to pose with drinks...

and we visited images of singapore... which is basically a revamped wax museum... there's still the usual wax figures of sir stamford raffles and our founding fathers but there are a lot more other cultural stuff on display there now...
the wax figurines looks pretty real i must say... and i didn't really want to stay there for long...

I was frightened by this lady actually. real woman, but i thought she was a wax figurine. so yeah, i don't think she was frightened by my screams though.

so, end of indoor stuff for us to do. Next up, Luge and skytrain!
we had to wear styrofoamy helmets (which is a bit disgusting cos some of them are still wet from the rain)

but the ride downhill is pretty exciting! I wish the track is longer though, and the thing i'm sitting on can go faster!! Really smart of sentosa to make use of their landscape. More exciting rides pls!!

Once we reach the bottom of the hill, we took a sky train up, back to where we started. :)

Mr goh is silly enough to count 'One, two, three' when he took pictures of our feet dangling in the air (as if the feet needs time to get ready to smile.. heehee).

The people in front of us... the mechanisms of this whole luge and sky train thing is quite impressive. You take the luge downhill. and the sky train carries the luge and the passengers uphill. chicken feet.

Next up, the Carlsberg Sky Tower.
It is 131 m above sea level when u reach the top most of the tower. Throughout the ride, it slowly rotates 360 degrees so you can see all of sentosa and the neighbouring islands.

Mr goh says I look like a carlsberg girl. : l

I'm awed by the view... hurhur. there's the sijori resort in the middle.

Time for some ice cooler drinks at the Skybar.

whose photography skill is better??

We then took the cable car to Harbourfront for dinner. There's this place which serves really good la mian. I tried their hainanese pork chop la mian, Thumbs up! and the mango pudding was delicious too! mr goh had their omelettle fried rice and we got a "three cup chicken" too. no photos, cos we're too hungry and finished the food!

On the cable car back....we hopped on a PINK cable car. Harhar.

actually wanted to walk along the beach and chill out by the beach bars. but nope, too tired for that. exhausted from work, from having too little sleep the nights before. T-I-R-E-D. then we noticed something strange about the fishes at sijori...they like to drink water!! all the fishes will gather at the "spring" and drink water from there! has it anything to do with sentosa's oxygenated water??

we bought chips but dunno how come we seemed to have misplaced it. and we bought fruit juices (which we conveniently left it in the fridge) and we watched the patriot showing on channel 5. hur... getting old le. and we slept til 12 noon the next day. hur. just in time to check out by 1230pm. we initially wanted to swim in the morning. : l

to the Merlion we go. we tried to pretend we're tourists and we acted silly. Mr goh's initial intention was to put his hands on the seashells.

On top of the merlion...
Mr goh told me the cctv behind me is the telescope and i peered right into it. : l
yes, i can be so bimbotic.

In the merlion's mouth....

and finally, the butterfly park.
on wings of butterflies...

lotsa creepy crawlies!! and cockroaches of all kinds! bigger than my thumb!!

and then there were the fireflies!! and their shiny buttocks. which concluded our time on sentosa island. We must go to the underwater world the next time!!

for now, bye bye sentosa,
Sealed with a kiss,
