Sharon's baby Caden is such a bundle of joy!

When I carried baby Caden, I could feel his heart beat!

I remembered the last time I carried a baby (my nephews)

- must have been 8 or 9 years ago-

I still go goo goo ga ga over babies

aye, my super motherly instincts

haha

And it's good seeing the hall peeps again.

=Sunday=

Was spent meeting Ashlyn for a drink at the Legends

my first time being driven in a Jaguar

the first time after a couple of years when I feel inspired again

but how long will this inspiration last?

=Random weekends=

Tired beee and thirsty bee!

I cannot understand why I always take so long to pack... even when it's only a 3day trip! started packing at 1130 after watching Basic Instinct 2 on cable.

Did my laundry in between. And some unpacking and packing.

And replied work emails - people in Vietnam don't sleep at normal hours!

So now, I have 4 hours of sleep ahead before i rush to the airport.

Thank goodness for online check in. =)

Met Fion for lunch at Wanchai today. Don't know what's with my luck and my encounters with insects today. When I got to the office, I had three THUMB size mosquito bites on my legs.

During lunch, my salad was attacked by a fruit fly thingy.

And when my 'dong leng cha' was served, this thirsty bee happily took the first sip.

Tom has a better picture of the bee, sticking out its built-in 'straw', sucking the liquid. My picture is when it started swimming around.

The outrageous thing is... even after all the commotion i created, and signalled for the waitress to come by... the drink and the bee were left unattended!

The waitresses asked silly questions like, 'Should I get another glass of ice tea for you?' 'Would you like a new glass?'

HELL YEAH!

and when we told them to remove it, she said, 'what if it starts flying and stings me?'

holy shit. So we did this to the drowning bee.

The table of MALE diners next to us were prepared to fend off the bee with their fork and knives. Goodness.

Where has my knight in shining armour gone?

Normally, under such circumstances - food contamination by fruit fly and bee, the restaurant manager should at least come and apologise (and offer to settle lunch for me)... but no... no one came forward to say anything - other than to present the bill.

Such is the service standard in HK? In any case, if you want a buzz-free meal in wanchai, avoid a certain Bistro located at CWB Center.

What an exciting way to start September

Drinks at G Bar
So, drinks with the client (and wifey and colq) went well. The weather was just right - although for some reason, HK is becoming more hazy recently.
Client is from a US manufacturing company and he's here to attend the Asian Aerospace show - and 'shun bian' bring the wifey along for a few days of R&R. Wifey is a super sweet angmoh lady.
They've been married for 36 years -
got to know each other for 2 months, and got married 5 months later.

I asked them, what's their secret?
"A common faith"
They were referring to Christianity.
So she spoke about their 3 children and how each one of them are getting married soon and the damn sweet (and sure) way to get the girl to say 'yes' is to write her a poem (bundled together with an expensive rock- haha)
'Some people meet and know they're meant for each other
and work towards a common goal
Others meet and think they're meant for each other
and gave up along the way'

The half hour drinks session turned into 1.5hrs.
I think I get defensive whenever somebody compares Singapore and HK - feels like a mini ambassador of Singapore.
We're not that bad, really. =)
Had dinner with Fion, Aj and Karen at Ajisen (CWB). We only ordered the appetizers - 10 of them. They're really good!
(except for the chicken wing thingy)
The wasabi squid sashimi and beef roll with the mushroom (金针菇) are must trys! I don't know if they serve this in Ajisen SG - one bad experience with Ajisen SG ramen and I've never gone to Ajisen again.
I'm a silly goose.
After I hopped on the bus, I realised that I've left the apt's keys AND office keys in the office - time was 11pm +.
Thank God that I have the LKF unit's keys,
although i'm not supposed to move in until Saturday. ^^
If not, I'll have to sleep on the streets!
Grabbed some toiletries from 7-11 and made my way to the unit.
(Staff at 7-11 commended me for not asking for plastic bags, supporting the movement - haha)
No change of clothes, so i slept in the nude. haha.
It's quite shiok, really. I felt as if I was floating on clouds.
I love full length mirrors.
New adventure awaits

Friday ended with news that I'm making a trip to Shanghai next week!

Will touch base with boss and new colq on Tues evening. Should be coming back on Saturday since the convention ends Saturday... I can't decide if I want to spend Sunday there too? A group of SG friends are visiting this coming weekend... and i'd love to show them around... :D

Friday dinner was at 小肥牛. I try the weirdest things when I'm abroad.

The condiments and our shopping prior dinner. (I need to stop buying things and eating so much for dinner.)

(Clockwise from top left)

Pig's skin oil (猪皮油). Sharks' jaw. Both. Cow's throat.

Why all same colour one?

Close up of the sharks' jaws.

Are they teeth marks?!?!

There's no particular taste to all three.

The pigs skin is just plain oily (and crispy), shark's jaws and cow's throat just taste very Q, 口感很好!

The kingfisher sashimi was sooo o-i-shi!

And a whole lot of other food...

Beef ball with cheese was the best.

AJ actually suggested going to Shenzhen for massage after dinner -

but since I didn't go home last night, I don't have my passport with me

and I have tonnes of things to pack!

Shifting to LKF in the morning.

Whee!

I packed til 4am+ on Sat morning

Pictures of new apt will be posted next!

This morning, on top of the two buns, I went to get Egg McMuffin breakfast meal

and when it came to the last bite, I thought I ate something crunchy/crispy.

which made me think about this youtube vid clip I saw some time ago.

macs - tastes so good, is really bad.

Really a 'Labour' Day

Sprang out of bed at 830am. Shit, I'm late... rushed to office, finished up some stuff and ran out of office by 1045am.

What/Who else would have made me so motivated to get to town so early in the morning.... other than... Mr Toh, or Mr HOT. :D

Two crazy gym session followed. 90 min each. BodyJam vs Nike Rock Star Workout AND BodyCombat BLAST. My legs could hardly kick properly in the last 30 minutes. I must be really crazy to have stayed for the second session.

And to reward myself.... Mr Goh and I went Shimbashi! Soba So GOOD! (We walked a freaking 30 minutes from Cathay to Paragon can, under the hot sweltering sun.)
They've got new desserts on their menu! I lurrrrve their Cream Anmitsu, but decided to try the new addition: matcha cheesecake with ice cream instead. It's now my second favourite! Mr Goh had some Soba thingy...which he had fun dipping it in brown syrup and soya bean powder.

Mr Goh calculated and said we're going to be seeing each other for 4 weeks out of 8 weeks in May and June (since I'm going to HK/GZ and Melb/Syd). Probably the longest time (to date) that we're not seeing each other. So, instead of going to work, I decided that I should probably spend as much time as I can with him and also, give myself a break from work. Quality Work, Quality Life. Shall work EXTREMELY hard tmr then.

We actually wanted to go for a haircut together, but Mr Goh found out that his stylist had quit and he doesn't really trust the others at Kimage. I... I..I... get nervous whenever it comes to haircut... but I seriously need to cut my hair. Eileen suggested that I do it in HK... hmm... will need to give that some thought, maybe?

So Far East shopping it shall be. Shoes Shoes Shoes! I really like the shoes from Gripz. My previous pair of gripz stayed with me since last Good Friday~ but I really need to replace it.. cos it's torn and dirty now. Good comfy shoes are really quite hard to come by for me... I think my feet is weird.

Bought another piece of polka dotted blouse. I've got A LOT of polka dotted stuff. I need to stop. And 3 for $10 necklaces - best bargain of the day. Muahahaa.

Need to stop shopping in Sg, and save up moolah to spend in HK (although the Great Singapore Sale is coming up)!

Mr Goh, on the other hand, is much much much more a rational shopper than I am. He didn't used to ask me to choose colours for him. Tonight, we debated over the colour of his Adidas cap for 30 minutes. Blue or White, this design or that design. Goodness.

I think we've picked up (bad) habits from each other along the way - which is ... quite hilarious. :D

Johnson Duck Rice and Hir Tao Lor (Fish Head Steamboat)

Johnson Duck Rice (Bukit Timah) reminded me of the portions served in Hong Kong. Maybe cos we're having dinner late, I can hardly finish a plate.
Hir Tao Lor (near Kovan) - Yummy.

Gym Bunnies and the dick at Cannery

Yay! Great workout today!

must thank all the sweeties for making the effort to come down to paragon by 930AM on a saturday! Hope you girls enjoyed the wonderful bodystep class conducted by julian ... :D although I suspect our calves and thighs will ache terribly tomorrow....

We ta-bao-ed lunch and went to Eileen's place (cos the 'ladder' man was coming to clean her leather sofa) and after that.... we decided to GO BACK TO GYM AGAIN!!
wanted to go for another of julian's class but we missed the time, so we stopped over at starbucks for a drink before going for Nike Rock Star Workout. Mich coined us the 'GYM BUNNIES'. The amount of energy we have really surprises me sometimes... just when you say you're tired and want to give up... you push yourself a little bit...and a little bit... and a little bit... and over your limit.

No pics at the gym, cos not very nice to take pics in the changing room, with other people's boobies showing. Hurrr.. only took one with Eileen, while mich was looking at shoes...

Was at Mr Goh's place for dinner... while he was intensely watching the man U vs Everton match, occasionally switching over to the other match, while I... read 8Days.

Popped by the Cannery later at night cos Mr Goh said he would bring me there AND he is the only guy eligible to bring me there. Hurrr. And then he showed me the dick.
It's some structure (for air ventilation?) at the Cannery which Mr Goh thought looks like a dick.

Nothing much's happening at the Cannery... lotsa drinking joints and smoke, and I wasn't really in the mood for a drink. good thing there was a BAZAAR!

Which I didn't manage to get anything from. =_=

Häagen-Dazs was packed, so we went a little further to this other dessert place, which served the BEST apple juice I have EVER tasted. It's FRESH, GREEN and CRISP!!
Can you imagine! Although their menu was a bit confusing...The Ham and Cheese sandwich was good too....
Mr Goh commented that my smile looks contrived... but my smile is my smile is my smile... how different can it get?? Not as if his smile is any different.... and I realise how dark Mr Goh is..... Even our new Fossil watches are black and white!

Happy Birthday Axel~

Axel's birthday is today, but we celebrated it over the weekend and went to Sakae sushi.

Boy, can these boys eat their sushi.

The moment they sat down next to the conveyor belt, there was no end to the plates of sushi! I probably should bring them to the sushi buffet sometime. I miss those times when going for sushi buffet was such a highlight of the week!

the foodie never dies

As much as I want to refrain myself from indulgence,

I

c a n n o t

d o

i t.
Mr Goh initially thought of going to have chicken rice at Boon Tiong Kee on Sunday night, but he doesn't know where exactly it's located... and we didn't want to risk driving around like headless chicken...

so we spinned by Mr. Bean's....

which probably serves the BEST Carbonara I've ever tasted.
The sauce is not eeky gooey thick and I thought I would be able to finish it all by myself (although it's Mr. Goh's order...) I like the interior 'feel' at Mr. Bean's.... if only they don't have power 98 roaring in the background.
I wanted to bodycombat to fight off the calories on sunday night... BUT julian's bodycombat class tonight was PACKED! FULL!

there was a tag outside the studio saying: This class is FULL. Enter at your own risk. (or sth like that)

I cannot believe it!

Too many foodie weekends!

I thought working out 3 times a week can allow me to indulge myself in all the food I want to eat. I was so wrong.

=3 March=
Thomson Prata
I used to eat here often during St nicks days, especially when my uncle comes fetch me from school. We would drop by to have a quick snack on our way home.
I <3 crispy prata.

=4 March=
Jap @ Raffles City
I forgot what's the name of this restaurant, but it's beside the pizza place. The reason why i was looking so gloomy was because I had been at the Suntec travel fair queueing and waiting and queueing and waiting the ENTIRE day. Oh, and I also bit on my ulcer.

=9 March=
Waraku @ Central, Birthday with GGGoh and the pick-and-mix candies
I realised that I've been going to the Starhub Centre's Waraku without knowing it is the Waraku restaurant. I LOVE their FURNACE! The curry katsu don I had that night was not bad too...

GGGoh was such a sweet that night-she got all of us a bag of sweets each, got special meaning for everyone of us some more wor. My sweets included the set of white teeth! (I can't wait to take my braces off!)

=10 March=
ECP Blading and Drive Thru KFC
2 hours of blading... that's my excuse for eating fast food!

=11 March=
Hong Kong Cafe @ Marina
See the two plates of spaghetti? I actually ordered the pork chop one... but the waiter served next table's black pepper beef spaghetti to me, and I ... erh... took a bite.. then realised they got my order wrong. HEE. Mr. Goh's curry chicken is really not bad, although it looks like shit.

=17 March=
Superdog, (expensive) Carl's Junior and The Chicken Rice Shop @ Vivo
Brought the boys out to watch 'Happily Never After' - which turned out to be really crap. Fast food fast food and oily chicken rice after that!

=18 Mar=
The Manhattan Fish Market @ Central

This is the FIRST time Mr. Goh didn't finish his food. We ordered a caesar to start off and some seafood platter for two. We ate and ate and ate from evening sun hang low to sundown AND we STILL cannot finish the food.

=24 March DAY=
Bak Kut Teh @ Rangoon Road

=24 March NIGHT=
Chomp Chomp

=26 March=
Ramen @ Cuppage

=30/31 March=
Birthday indulgence - Rive Guache, Altivo, Thai Express, CHOCZ, Mezza9

=6 April=
Shimbashi Dessert, Steamboat, Junk food and Mochi at Meesh's
We were SUPPOSED to go to the gym after a light tea break at Delifrance. INSTEAD, we settled for Shimabashi desserts! Followed by steamboat eat-all-u-can at meesh's. Highly recommended is the Mochi (30pcs) sold at Bee Cheng Hiang, with 5 flavours (green tea, red bean, peanut, yam and sesame). Everybody loved it. ;)

=8 April=
Basil Alcove and AhBORling
Basil Alcove was featured in 8Days and Mr Goh, being a recent 8Days convert, decided that we should give the joint a try since the reviews were really good. The food was pretty delicious - pretty and delicious. The presentation is similar to the dishes you get at fine-dining restaurants, except that this joint is more like a roadside kopitiam. And anywhere al fresco... I'm BOUND to be bitten by mosquitoes, hence the unglam 'kiao ka' and scratch leg before dinner was served.
Another point to note if you guys want to try out Alcove: you have to make reservations and dinner orders are not taken until it's strictly 6.30pm. Mr. Goh and I were there at about 610pm, but they wouldn't take our orders (except for drinks), which was quite puzzling. A pity they don't serve dessert too, so we had to find our own dessert at liang seah street.

Anyway, point of this post is...

I HAVE PUT ON WEIGHT!

and this is not without proof.

My jeans/pants/skirts feel tighter and the weighing scale doesn't lie.

So, no more foodie weekends! No more snacking in office! More fruits and veggies!

The next few weekends would be gym gym gym weekends!
